Sometimes referred to as 'City of Destiny' called as Vizag, Visakhapatnam is not only an important city for Andhra Pradesh, it holds a great position in context of the whole country. Vizag has the most advanced and one of the biggest ports of India. Visakhapatnam used to be a small fishing village before the British chose the city for constructing a port that will connect India to Central Province. It is the only natural harbor on the eastern coast of India. In 1940, Scindia Steam Navigation Co. was set up which later came to be known as Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. This is the oldest shipyard in India. The city is the administrative headquarters of Visakhapatnam district and is also the center of Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy. There are two international cricket stadiums in the city that bring in many sports lovers during games.

APSRTC (Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) buses ensures conveyance to all the cities of Andhra Pradesh. There are private operators as well in the business with luxury coaches. To match the services, even APSRTC has launched highly luxuries Volvo buses to many cities in the state.
