Volvo s60 launched.....



Volvo Auto India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group company,Volvo launches its S60 sedan in three variants in India
Thursday launched the premium sedan Volvo S60 to take on BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

The Indian subsidiary of the Chinese major expects to be profitable by the end of this calendar year, said Paul de Voijs, managing director of Volvo Auto India. “We launched the S60 in India within four to five months of its global launch following the rising demand for premium cars in the subcontinent. We plan to sell at least 100 units per month,” Voijs told Financial Chronicle. He expects the domestic operations to be profitable in 2011, on the back of good sales in this calendar year.

The three variants of the S60 sedan are priced between Rs 27 and Rs 34 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The BMW 3-Series models are priced between Rs 24.4 lakh and Rs 33.95 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), while Audi A4 is priced at Rs 27.18 lakh to Rs 37.02 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), and Mercedes-Benz C-Class variants at Rs 29.62 lakh and Rs 36.03 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).

At present, BMW is the leader in the Indian luxury car segment with 40 per cent market share. It sold 6,246 units in 2010. Voijs further said that the luxury car market, which was just 1 per cent of total passenger car sales in India, has now grown to over 6 per cent with annual sales of over 15,000 units. Volvo has plans to invest $10-11 billion worldwide over the next five years to upgrade its products and technology following its acquisition in 2010 by China’s Zhejiang from Ford Motor.

The New E-Class Benz 2010



The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a range of executive-size cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz in various engine and body configurations.

The E initially stood forEinspritzmotor, (German for fuel injection); a new feature in volume production vehicles at the time that the E-Class first appeared, with the E as a suffix to the engine nomenclature  in the 1950s.

It was not until the launch of the facelifted W124 that the E was used as a prefix (i.e. E220) and the model referred to officially as the E-Class (or E-Klasse). At this time all Mercedes cars used fuel injection and the company felt it was not necessary to add this as a distinguishing feature. 

Due to the E-Class's size and durability, the cars also frequently serve as taxis in European countries. Older models like the W123 and W124 are used in Malaysia as inter-state taxis, and the W211 is used in Singapore as a taxi. Mercedes-Benz also offers special-purpose vehicles (e.g. police or ambulance modifications) from the factory.

Audi S4 cabrio








The S4 is the sports sedan variant of Audi's compact executive car. The first generation S4, built from 1991 until 1994, was a performance-oriented version of Audi's 100 sedan, while since 1997 the S4 has served as the performance variant of the A4 lineup; as the A4 has evolved from one generation to the next, so has the S4. A more powerful engine, larger brakes, more aggressively tuned suspension components and larger wheels have always been amongst the many upgrades the S4 receives over it's "lesser sibling".


Like their non-sporting counterparts, all S4 variants have had longitudinally oriented, front-mounted engines. A single turbocharged. 2.2 liter inline five-cylinder powered the original C4 version, a 2.7 liter twin-turbocharged V6 powered the B5 generation, B6 and B7 versions shared a common 4.2 liter V8 and the recently introduced B8 generation uses a supercharged 3.0 liter V6.

Hero Honda has finally launched the much awaited tourer bike - Karizma ZMR Fi in Indian Market.

Karizma ZMR will be sold along with old Karizma model, Hero Honda has decided not to phase

out Karizma R and sell both the models side by side. They don't want to end the competition for

Apache 180 & Pulsar 220 as Karizma R is priced around Rs. 80,000.

In terms of looks the most visible change is heavy looking full front fairing with a lot of snazzy

graphics with 'ZMR' stickers. Though it seems a liitle bit overworked and give Karizma ZMR a

BMW m-Coupe



The BMW M Coupe is a Shooting-brake styled high-performance automobile produced by BMW. As of February 2009, two generations of the M Coupe have been manufactured.


The car is based on the BMW M Roadster. The semi-trailing arm rear suspension was not modified from the M Roadster. The coupe is 2.7 times stiffer than its convertible counterpart, resulting in superior handling.
The M coupe was developed under the leadership of engineer Burkhard Göschel with the intention of adding increased torsional and structural rigidity to the Z3 roadster’s chassis. The development team had a hard time convincing the Board of Directors to approve the model for production, but it was eventually given the green light as long as it remained cost-effective to produce. To achieve this goal, as many body panels as possible had to be shared with the roadster, thus the doors and everything from the A-pillar forward are interchangeable between the coupe and roadster, as are most interior parts. The Z3 coupe, which mates the M coupe's body with the standard Z3 drivetrain, chassis and cosmetics was approved for production at the same time.

Volvo plant in INDIA


Volvo buses in India took the next step forward in the bus industry, by starting its own bus body building facility in india. The new facility is just adjascent to the existing chassis facility and aims to offer increased flexibility and to further improve thequality of its products.


The new facility of Volvo buses at Bangalore was launch with much fanfare, on 31st January 2008. The event reached bigger heights with the presence of all the bus customers in India as well as Volvo Bus Corporation President, Mr. Hakan Karlsson, along with his Bus Executive Committee members at the factory. Several dignitaries from the transport industry were also present for the function.

 

The new plant has a capacity of 1,000 buses annually, with projected production this year of 450 buses.

Lexus LF Series





LEXUS LF:

The Lexus LF line is a series of concept cars built by Lexus, the luxury vehicle division of Toyota Motor Corporation. The "LF" designation refers to Lexus Future. The LF Series vehicles include three coupes/convertibles: the LF-A, the LF-A Roadster, and the LF-C; two sedans: the LF-S and LF-Sh; two crossover SUVs: the LF-X and LF-Xh; and a hatchback, the LF-Ch. The first concept vehicle of the LF Series, the LF-X, appeared in 2003. The LF Series utilizes L-finesse,a design philosophy named for "Leading Edge" and "finesse", which debuted on the LF Series concepts and later extended to all new production Lexus vehicles. New vehicle technologies on the LF Series include advanced instrumentation, multiple driver-selected vehicle configurations, hybrid and experimental powertrains, and unconventional driver interface designs. The vehicles also feature new design cues which derive from the L-finesse design language of "Intriguing Elegance" (), "Incisive Simplicity" (), and "Seamless Anticipation" (). Several of the LF concept vehicles have appeared close to their production counterparts, while the design cues of other LF concepts appeared on more distinctly different production vehicles.

· The LF-A is a 2-door exotic concept car built as a prospective halo car for the Lexus division. Three versions have been shown, the first debuting at the 2005 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). The designation stands for Lexus Future-Advance. The first concept was about five inches shorter than the Porsche 911 Turbo (996) with a wheelbase about nine inches longer, and was nearly 48 inches (1,200 mm) in height about equal to the Ferrari F430 with a width of 73.2 in (1,859 mm). It was powered by a V10 engine displacing less than 5.0 liters, generating over 500 hp (373 kW) and had a top speed around 200 mph (320 km/h). To maintain a near ideal weight distribution a rear transaxle is used and the radiators are mounted at the rear. A second revised version with a more completely furnished interior and exterior was unveiled two years later at the 2007 NAIAS as a possible future member of the Lexus F marque performance lineup. The interior gauges revealed a 9000 RPM redline, however news reports speculated that it might not make the production version.The third version of the LF-A concept, a roadster model, premiered in 2008.
· Reports in 2006 indicated that the LF-A concept car had received the green-light for production. Prototypes of the LF-A had been spotted regularly undergoing testing at Nürburgring since October 2004, the famous motorsport race track in Nürburg, Germany. Numerous test vehicles have been equipped with automatic retractable rear wings, and carbon ceramic brake discs. The production vehicles were expected to carry V10 engines, putting the car in market competition with the Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari F430, the Porsche 911 (997), and the Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1. Pricing was estimated at over $225,000, and close to $400,000. In December 2007, Auto Expressreported that the LF-A had set an unofficial 7:24 lap record at the Nürburgring. The production $375,000 Lexus LFA supercar debuted in 2009.
LF- AR
Designated LF-AR or LF-A Roadster, the roadster version of the LF-A concept car was first displayed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 13, 2008. Derived from the LF-A, the designation stands for Lexus Future-Advance Roadster. Initial specifications for the roadster are a V10 engine under 5.0 L with over 500 hp (373 kW) and a top speed of over 200 mph (320 km/h).The LF-A Roadster was also revealed to have a retractable rear spoiler for improved handling at speed. The LF-A Roadster show model featured side cameras in place of standard mirrors, and a two-tone interior. The model was designated with "F" badges indicating its place as a member of the Lexus F performance division.
After its debut at the 2008 North American International Auto Show, the LF-A Roadster was also shown at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, the United States Open Championship tournament, and at Lexus exhibits in Japan. On August 12th 2009, news reports suggested that the LF-A would be released as the LF-L, with the change in name from A to L to signify its appearances at Le Mans and to draw on its pre-production racing development.However, a production non-convertible designated LFA premiered in October 2009.
LF-C
The LF-C is a concept car Lexus unveiled at the 2004 New York Auto Show. This concept featured a retractable hardtop design which allowed for coupe, convertible, targa, or speedster configurations via a four-position glass roof. The designation stands for Lexus Future-Coupe. The LF-C is fitted with a V8 engine and rear-wheel drive. Unique features included a one-touch activation button, crystal LED taillamps, suede bucket seats, a 3D instrument panel, drive-by-wire, and a translucent crystal center console with blue backlighting. The LF-C also featured retractable rear-view cameras in place of side mirrors on the doors and rear bumper.

Rumors persist that that LF-C hints at the general design direction for the next-generation Lexus SC. It may

, however, hint at the convertible version of the IS 250/350. Design cues from the LF-C, particularly in the

front fascia, appeared in production form with the debut of the second generation Lexus IS

LF-CH
The LF-Ch is a concept four-door hatchback Lexus unveiled in September 2009 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show. The designation refers to Lexus Future-Compact hybrid. The LF-Ch exterior featured a more aggressive interpretation of the L-finesse design language, with an arching roofline, rear spoiler, and single-bar grille.The rear door handles were integrated into the C-pillar window trim. The concept was equipped with a hybrid 2.4 L inline-four gasoline engine with an electric motor. Inside, the LF-Ch featured wood, polished aluminum, and semi-aniline leather, along with paddle shifters, a turbine-style instrument panel, and Lexus' Remote Touch control interface with pop-up information screen. The rear seat featured entertainment options in the form of headrest-mounted iPhone docks.

The LF-Ch was intended to preview a forthcoming premium compact vehicle, which was expected to enter production in the near future and targeted at European markets.Such a vehicle, originally codenamed C-Premium in early press reports, was designated CT 200h, CT 300h, or CT 400h in trademark applications filed in June 2009 in the US and in Canada. The LF-Ch concept measured 4,300 mm (169.3 in) long, 1,790 mm (70.5 in) wide, and 1,400 mm (55.1 in) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm (102.4 in). It may very well presumptively be a Lexus based on the Toyota Corolla.

LF-S

The LF-S is a concept luxury sedan which Lexus unveiled in 2003 at the Tokyo Motor Show, signalling its intentions to launch Lexus in its home country. The designation stands for Lexus Future-Sedan. Unique features of the LF-S concept included side-mounted cameras instead of mirrors, an air stream style windshield cleansing system, transparent panoramic roof with security illumination, and keyless entry. Design cues from the LF-S, particularly the slingshot cabin, sleek profile, and rear deck lid, appeared in the third generation Lexus GS production sedan. The vehicle was designed to seat 5 passengers.

The LF-S was powered by a high-output hybrid V8 system with all-wheel drive, marking the conceptual debut of a Lexus vehicle with hybrid technology (the first luxury hybrid, the RX 400h, subsequently premiered in 2005 with a V6 hybrid powertrain, and in 2007 the LS 600h and LS 600h L hybrids debuted with hybrid V8 systems). The LF-S and GS sedans were displayed together at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2005, alluding to the design similarities between concept and production model. Overall length was 193.3 in (4910 mm)., width 74.6 in (1895 mm)., and height 53.0 in (1346 mm).

LF-Sh

Production concept luxury sedan. The LF-Sh was later developed into the fourth generation Lexus LS. The LF-Sh featured LED headlamps, hybrid all-wheel drive, and exhaust vents integrated into the rear bumper. The designation refers to Lexus Future-Sedan hybrid. The LF-Sh body style transitioned to an actual production vehicle, the LS 460, more closely than any of the other LF Series concepts, with identical exterior dimensions as the standard wheelbase version of the fourth generation LS sedan.

However, multiple details on the LF-Sh were changed for production. Among them, the integrated exhaust vents were shifted from a seamless one-piece design to a chrome-plated version. The LED headlamps did not appear on the standard production LS 460, but did later debut on the hybrid ultra-luxury LS 600h / LS 600h L. The long wheelbase model LS 460 L is a lengthened version of the LF-Sh/LS 460 standard wheelbase design.

The LF-Sh concept premiered at the Tokyo Motor Show in late 2005, following the debut of Lexus in the home market of Japan, and predating the January 2006 debut of the LS 460 North America. The LF-Sh concept was not fitted with an interior, allowing the interior reveal of the LS 460 to occur at the North American International Auto Show in 2006.

LF-X

Concept crossover vehicle. The LF-X designation stands for Lexus Future-Crossover(X). This vehicle was the first to appear in the LF Series, and was initially revealed using the prior Lexus concept nomenclature as the HP-X. The LF-X design fits between the RX crossover and the GX large SUV. If produced (possibly under the VX or JX designation), the LF-X would offer three rows of seating, compared to the RX's two rows. The LF-X was produced using the GS 430 platform, and equipped with a 300 horsepower V8 engine. The instrument panel was designed to be customizable for size, position, and color. Rear seat entertainment screns could be deployed from the center console. Overall length was 4,935 mm (194.3 in), width 1,984 mm (78.1 in), and height 1,646 mm (64.8 in), with wheelbase at 2,959 mm (116.5 in).

LF-Xh

2008 Paris Motor Show. The Lexus LF-Xh is a concept crossover hybrid vehicle from Lexus. The

designation stands for Lexus Future-Crossover(X) hybrid. This vehicle was first shown in October 2007 at

the Tokyo Motor Show and appeared also in the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The LF-Xh featured a V6 engine

with electric motors, LED headlights and taillights, and a concept interior.

The Lexus LF-A Crystallised Wind is a car made entirely of acrylic glass. I know, I thought it was real crystallized wind too. LIARS! Anyway, I don't recommend stuffing any dead bodies in the trunk. I do recommend wearing pants.

Kawasaki Ninja 250




The Kawasaki Ninja 250R (previous generations had market-specific names) is a sport motorcycle originally introduced by Kawasaki Motors in 1983. As the marque's entry-level[1][2] sportbike, it has proven to be a top seller, continuously experiencing double-digit sales growth.[3] It is a popular machine with novices and experienced riders alike, renowned for its light handling, good fuel economy, and comfortable riding posture. The motorcycle has undergone few changes throughout its quarter-century lifetime, having received only two substantial redesigns.

Nomenclature:

The fourth-generation model is marketed as the Ninja 250R in all markets. The motorcycle is also referred to by its platform designation, EX250, to which a generational suffix is attached. In the United States, previous generations of the bike (EX250-E/F/G/H) were already being marketed as members of the "Ninja" family of sportbikes, while outside of the U.S. the bike was known variously as the ZZR-250, ZX-250, or as the GPX-250R. One of the earliest generations, the EX250-C, was given the name GPZ-250

Ducati hypermotard 796


Ducati has just released details for its new Hypermotard 796. Aimed to be a lighter and more compact urban-weapon, the new 796 features a host of changes, including an all-new engine, lower seat height, new colorways, super-light-action APTC clutch and, best of all, a lower price. While it still features all the same traits we’ve come to know and like on its big brother, the 796 now provides an entry-level version for those looking to spend a bit less. Stay tuned for a full review in the coming months! The Hypermotard 796 will be powered by a new Desmodue L-Twin engine. The air-cooled, two-valve powerplant has an 88 X 66mm bore/stroke with a claimed power output of 81 hp and 55.7 lb-ft. of torque. Besides being injected with the favorable traits of other Ducati Desmodue engines, the new Ducati mill also conforms to Euro 3 emission regulations.

The smaller engine also helped shave 22 lbs. off the Hypermotard 1100. Assisting the weight reduction is a frame with less forged components and new upper and lower fork clamps. The 2010 Ducati Hypermotard 796 is claimed to weigh in at 368 lbs.

BMW new series release 2009

BMW has officially announced the details pertaining to the 5th generation 7 Series, so let's cut right to the chase. In Europe, there are five models arriving on the market in November of this year: the 730d; the 740i and Li; and the 750i and Li. The latter two are powered by the same twin-turbo 4.4L V8 that debuted in the X6. In the U.S.-market 7 Series, the turbo eight is rated at 400 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, and it is the sole engine option being made available. If you want a BMW 7 Series in America, it will be a 750. Europeans get more choices. The 730d's 3.0L diesel I6 pumps out 245 horses with nearly 400 lb-ft of torque. Despite the grunt, it boasts a combined fuel economy number of 32.6 U.S. miles per gallon (39.2 Imperial). The 740 models are powered by the now-familiar 3.0L twin-turbo gasoline engine. In the 7, the 3.0TT's power output is 326 horses and 332 lb-ft -- enough to hustle the 740Li from 0 to 62 mph in six seconds flat. All the engines are connected to a six-speed automatic. Jaguar and Land Rover launched in india









The country's top automaker, Tata Motors, on Sunday launched in India its marquee car brands Jaguar and Land Rover, which it had acquired from the US car maker Ford.
Tata will sell the Jaguar, which had its origins in a motorcycle sidecar company, XF and XKR series for between Rs 63 lakh and Rs 92 lakh, while Land Rover's Discovery and Range Rover would be priced between Rs 63 lakh and Rs 89 lakh.
“It's quite a memorable day in the history and heritage of Tata Motors...JLR has been well received and well established in India (in the past), but over the years this brand has been disconnected from India," Tata group chief Ratan Tata told reporters in Mumbai announcing the launch.
“Now, we have decided to extend the penetration of the two brands in India,” Tata said.
“I think the cars will exhibit the levels of technology and levels of performance here,” he said.
The two brands would give Indian public an opportunity to experience the “pleasure of driving the superior technology”, Tata added. Tata Motors completed the acquisition of the two British marquee car brands last year for 2.3 billion dollars.
Tata Motor suffered a net loss of Rs 2,505.25 crore in 2008-09 mainly on account of JLR that it acquired in March 2008. The expensive JLR marquee suffered on account of the economic meltdown.

Alfa Romeo is claiming the Mito draws styling inspiration from its stunning 8C Competizione supercar. Namely the frameless doors, distinctive nose, and LED taillights. China’s Haima to launch A0 segment car in 2009
Yet another Chinese car maker will see global attention focused on it during the run up to year 2009 as it lines up a new brand of car. FAW Haima Automobile Co is expected to unveil its new own-brand car in the A0 segment next year thereby launching itself into the big league.
The new model, which will be built at its production base in the southern China city of Haikou, will be an A0 class car powered by Haima’s 1.6L and 1.3L engines. The car maker had earlier announced plans for expansion of two production facilities this month. The two new plants are expected to increase Haima’s annual car production capacity to 450,000 units, which is three-fold.
With China’s auto market already having earned a name as the world’s second largest car mart, the growth registered annually is to the tune of more than 20 per cent . However, a slowdown had been lurking in recent years following a series of natural calamities and a recent fuel price hike.
While the Haikou plant will concentrate on building the A0 cars first followed by the B-segment car or SUVs later on, the Zhengzhou facility will mainly produce minicars,the source added. However, it has been clarified that Haima is in no rush to develop high-end models but will stay focused on minicar segments in the next one or two years.
Haima is expected to invest close to $206.1 million in its plant at Zhengzhou and will produce 150,000 cars there annually. The Haikou plant is also expected to have a similar investment coming up.
The company clearly has lined up its measures toward being a competitive player in a changing world. China’s quest to be on top of the world is expected to be fuelled by the hopes of such projects, it is said
