Ducati has just released details for its new Hypermotard 796. Aimed to be a lighter and more compact urban-weapon, the new 796 features a host of changes, including an all-new engine, lower seat height, new colorways, super-light-action APTC clutch and, best of all, a lower price. While it still features all the same traits we’ve come to know and like on its big brother, the 796 now provides an entry-level version for those looking to spend a bit less. Stay tuned for a full review in the coming months! The Hypermotard 796 will be powered by a new Desmodue L-Twin engine. The air-cooled, two-valve powerplant has an 88 X 66mm bore/stroke with a claimed power output of 81 hp and 55.7 lb-ft. of torque. Besides being injected with the favorable traits of other Ducati Desmodue engines, the new Ducati mill also conforms to Euro 3 emission regulations.

The smaller engine also helped shave 22 lbs. off the Hypermotard 1100. Assisting the weight reduction is a frame with less forged components and new upper and lower fork clamps. The 2010 Ducati Hypermotard 796 is claimed to weigh in at 368 lbs.

BMW new series release 2009

BMW has officially announced the details pertaining to the 5th generation 7 Series, so let's cut right to the chase. In Europe, there are five models arriving on the market in November of this year: the 730d; the 740i and Li; and the 750i and Li. The latter two are powered by the same twin-turbo 4.4L V8 that debuted in the X6. In the U.S.-market 7 Series, the turbo eight is rated at 400 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, and it is the sole engine option being made available. If you want a BMW 7 Series in America, it will be a 750. Europeans get more choices. The 730d's 3.0L diesel I6 pumps out 245 horses with nearly 400 lb-ft of torque. Despite the grunt, it boasts a combined fuel economy number of 32.6 U.S. miles per gallon (39.2 Imperial). The 740 models are powered by the now-familiar 3.0L twin-turbo gasoline engine. In the 7, the 3.0TT's power output is 326 horses and 332 lb-ft -- enough to hustle the 740Li from 0 to 62 mph in six seconds flat. All the engines are connected to a six-speed automatic. Jaguar and Land Rover launched in india

The country's top automaker, Tata Motors, on Sunday launched in India its marquee car brands Jaguar and Land Rover, which it had acquired from the US car maker Ford.
Tata will sell the Jaguar, which had its origins in a motorcycle sidecar company, XF and XKR series for between Rs 63 lakh and Rs 92 lakh, while Land Rover's Discovery and Range Rover would be priced between Rs 63 lakh and Rs 89 lakh.
“It's quite a memorable day in the history and heritage of Tata Motors...JLR has been well received and well established in India (in the past), but over the years this brand has been disconnected from India," Tata group chief Ratan Tata told reporters in Mumbai announcing the launch.
“Now, we have decided to extend the penetration of the two brands in India,” Tata said.
“I think the cars will exhibit the levels of technology and levels of performance here,” he said.
The two brands would give Indian public an opportunity to experience the “pleasure of driving the superior technology”, Tata added. Tata Motors completed the acquisition of the two British marquee car brands last year for 2.3 billion dollars.
Tata Motor suffered a net loss of Rs 2,505.25 crore in 2008-09 mainly on account of JLR that it acquired in March 2008. The expensive JLR marquee suffered on account of the economic meltdown.

Hitachi Software has developed a cool Electronic Blackboard that was announced a while ago. This is an addition to the line of such existing board in the “StarBoard” series. LG found that it had a hit on its hands when debuted its first "Chocolate" phones in 2006 (the KG800 in Europe and the VX8500 in the US), and it's no surprise to see that there will soon be a successor.
The second-generation Chocolate phone, model number BL40, has officially been unveiled today and it's every bit as sexy as the original, if not more.

The handset retains the glossy finish synonymous to LG's Chocolate range, as well as the so-called "iconic red highlights".
New to the second-gen handset is a 4in screen with a 21:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio that delivers an 800x345 resolution - it has the makings of a useful portable media player, we reckon, and a width of 800 pixels should make web browsing far easier on the eye.
There's a five megapixel camera at the rear, and though further details remain slim, we should be seeing the handset in stores this September.

Nikon has launched what's claimed to be its simplest and most accessible Digital SLR to date.
The D3000 may look like every other DSLR already on the market, but anyone new to the world of professional photography shouldn’t be put off by all its buttons and turn dials, Nikon stressed.
An Intelligent Guide mode aims to demystify DSLR shooting on the D3000 by automatically recommending the appropriate image settings for specific subjects or scenes, for example.

The D3000’s Visual Demonstration mode, although not an inherently new feature, will let you see how your snapped image will look before you press the shutter button. However, the mode will also teach you how to improve your photography skills by identifying the settings used to achieve the image, which is a nice touch.
Nikon’s also built a Guide mode into the camera, designed to take your photography to the next level with more creative shooting options – once you’ve mastered the basics, of course.

In terms of technical features, the D3000 is a 10.2Mp DSLR with 11 autofocus points and a top ISO sensitivity of 1600. A pop-up flash is built into the camera’s body, while a 3in LCD’s integrated into the DSLR’s rear, Nikon said.

Nikon’s D3000 will be available from 28 August at a body-only price of £430 ($708/€504). If you buy the camera with an 18 – 55mm lens then you’ll have to fork out £500.

China’s Haima to launch A0 segment car in 2009
Yet another Chinese car maker will see global attention focused on it during the run up to year 2009 as it lines up a new brand of car. FAW Haima Automobile Co is expected to unveil its new own-brand car in the A0 segment next year thereby launching itself into the big league.
The new model, which will be built at its production base in the southern China city of Haikou, will be an A0 class car powered by Haima’s 1.6L and 1.3L engines. The car maker had earlier announced plans for expansion of two production facilities this month. The two new plants are expected to increase Haima’s annual car production capacity to 450,000 units, which is three-fold.
With China’s auto market already having earned a name as the world’s second largest car mart, the growth registered annually is to the tune of more than 20 per cent . However, a slowdown had been lurking in recent years following a series of natural calamities and a recent fuel price hike.
While the Haikou plant will concentrate on building the A0 cars first followed by the B-segment car or SUVs later on, the Zhengzhou facility will mainly produce minicars,the source added. However, it has been clarified that Haima is in no rush to develop high-end models but will stay focused on minicar segments in the next one or two years.
Haima is expected to invest close to $206.1 million in its plant at Zhengzhou and will produce 150,000 cars there annually. The Haikou plant is also expected to have a similar investment coming up.
The company clearly has lined up its measures toward being a competitive player in a changing world. China’s quest to be on top of the world is expected to be fuelled by the hopes of such projects, it is said

Microsoft pounded itself on the chest last week saying over 96% of netbooks now use Windows. This made me somewhat sad, because I was hoping these little computers could be the break Linux had been waiting for.

The first couple of netbooks all had Linux pre-installed. Unfortunately, Asus chose to go with a custom Linux distribution for which it has yet to release its first update. No Firefox 3, no Flash 10 and no easy way to get additional software. Except for the easy to use interface, they came up with the worst example of what Linux can be. But if there’s one thing Linux offers its choice. It is my opinion that Ubuntu is the most user-friendly Linux distro out there, and I highly recommend giving it a go on your netbook.

Avinash Bhandari, the Director of Electrotherm India, stated that the company prefers to modify their existing models (by adding more power) rather than departing from what they know works.
Electrotherm has sold around 10,000 e-bikes in less than a year, and are expectant that business will really take off in the upcoming decade.
Electrotherm also plans to export these bikes. They will start out by testing the markets in Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The high tech Volvo 9400 6×2 B9R features e-controlled suspension, the disc brakes and on-board computer keeping the checks on different vehicle functions.

And now, the Volvo’s bus bodies are being manufactured by Volvo Bus Body Technologies India, where Volvo occupied 70 percent and Jaico Auto holds 30%. This has offered Volvo with extra flexibility with respect to production plans and enhancement in a quality and the consistency.

While the Nano does meet its highly aggressive (and what many industry experts once deemed as totally unrealistic) price point, some hurdles remain to be cleared.
The Nano has been nicknamed “The People’s Car” because its starting price will make it accessible to more Indians than any other new car on the market. But the ultra-cheap, ultra-compact Nano comes with no frills. It runs on a 623-cc 2-cylinder engine with about 30 horsepower. Power steering and power brakes are optional on the base model. Airbags, antilock brakes and even a radio aren’t available at all.

The 2009 BMW 3-Series sedans and wagons get slightly freshened interior and exterior styling. Also, for the first time in North America, these premium compact cars will be available with a diesel engine. The 3-Series offers 2-door coupes and convertibles, as well as 4-door sedans and wagons. Convertibles have a power-retractable hard top. The 2009 3-Series model lineup consists of the following: entry-level 328, mid-line 335, and high-performance M3. Depending on body style, the 328i is available with rear-wheel drive or with BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive. It's powered by a 230-hp 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine. Also depending on body style, the 335i is available with rear- or AWD. Those models are powered by a turbocharged 300-hp version of the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder. New for 2009 is the rear-drive 335d. It has a 265-hp 3.0-liter turbodiesel 6-cylinder that is emissions legal in all 50 states. M3 models use a 414-hp 4.0-liter V8. All 2009 BMW 3-Series gasoline engines are available with a 6-speed manual transmission. Available on the 328i and 335i and standard on the 335d is a 6-speed automatic. The M3 is available with a 7-speed automatic. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and front side airbags. Head-protecting tubular side airbags that cover both seating rows are standard on all but convertibles. Standard on convertibles are rollover bars designed to deploy from the rear headrests if sensors detect an impending tip.Cars with the optional navigation system get BMW's iDrive that uses a console knob to control entertainment, navigation, communication, and other functions. Other available features include steering-linked xenon headlights, BMW's Active Steering that quickens steering response at low speeds, front- and rear- obstacle detection, adaptive cruise control, and BMW Assist service with a wireless cell phone link.
