Critical Adobe Flash and Reader flaw being exploited

A critical zero-day vulnerability in Adobe Reader, Acrobat and Flash Player is currently being actively exploited by cybercriminals.The flaw, which could cause a crash or allow an attacker to take control of an affected system, is present in the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (10.0.45.2) and earlier for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris operating systems.

Note:The bug also affects the authplay.dll component of Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9 for Windows, Macintosh and UNIX operating systems.

The flaw currently remains unpatched with no schedule for a fix. It was rated “extremely critical” or a 5 out of 5 by Danish vulnerability tracking firm Secunia. Adobe has provided a workaround for affected versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat. Users can mitigate the threat by deleting or renaming the authplay.dll file in Adobe Reader and Acrobat, Adobe said. Doing so could, however, cause an error message or non-exploitable crash when opening certain PDF files.

Path for finding the file:C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\authplay.dll for Adobe Reader or C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\authplay.dll for Acrobat.

In addition, a prerelease version of Flash Player 10.1, which is currently available, does not appear to be affected by the vulnerability,you can have free download.

Ooty a hill station -Udagamandalam

Ooty also known as Udhagamandalam is the "Queen of hill stations" and the capital of Nilgiris district. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India. Nilgiris means "Blue Mountains". It is a land of picturesque picnic spots. Used to be popular summer and weekend getaway for the Britishers during the colonial days. It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level. An added attraction for the tourists to Udagamandalam is the mountain train journey on a ratchet and pinion track which commences from Kallar, near Mettupalayam and wends its way through many hair-raising curves and fearful tunnels and chugs along beside deep ravines full of verdant vegetation, gurgling streams and tea gardens.


A meter gauge:

At the height of 2,600m stands Udhagamandalam (Ooty) The Queen of Hill Stations. The ‘Nilgiris toy train’ connect Ooty to mettupalayam, at the foot of the Nilgiris.

The construction of this line was a big challenge as the terrain is rather tricky. It was in 1854 that the first plans were drawn to build a mountain railway from mettupalayam to the Nilgiri Hills. But it was a good 45 years later in 1899 that the first train chugged up this track. This railway is widely regarded as a marvel of engineering. The train itself is a charming blue and cream with wooden coaches and large windows. It is hauled up hills by stream engines, designed and built by the Swiss Locomotive Works. Twelve of such locomotive engines survive even today.

The train covers the 46 km to Udhagamandalam in four and a half hours. There are five stations between Mettupalayam and Coonoor - Kallar, Adderley, Hill Grove, Runnymede and Kateri – and, at one time, there were five between Coonoor and Ooty too. Through Wellington, Aruvankadul, Ketti, and Lovedale are still functional, Fren Hill, the last one, was closed down a few years ago.

The british have been drinking tea for more than 300 years, today, it accounts for nearly half the fluid intake of a British adult. But can you have a too much of a good thing ? There is sometimes nothing more reviving than a cup of tea, but in fact it has little nutritional value although the milk or sugar added may supply around 40n calories. However, the stimulant such as caffeine that tea contains can accelerate the heart rate, increase alertness, and help respiration by dilating the airways of the lungs.

Sun Spitting Solar Particles - to Reach earth

The Sun erupted with one of the biggest prominences in years. This shot from the SOHO spacecraft on April 13, 2010 at 13:13 UT shows a Coronal Mass Ejection from the Sun’s northeastern limb. The massive plasma-filled structure rose up and burst during a ~2 hour period around 0900 UT.

A typical coronal mass ejection can release 100 billion kilograms of solar material, and the speed of this material can approach 1000 km/second. In fact, solar flares and coronal mass ejections are the biggest explosions in the Solar System, approaching the power of one billion hydrogen bombs.
